MN TRIO is happy to announce the 2019 MN TRIO Scholarship competition! Below you will 
find detailed information and application materials for the MN TRIO Scholarships. 

     
Deadline:  

Friday, April 19th, 2019 by 6:00PM (EXTENDED 1 Week due to inclement weather)
Applicant will receive an email confirmation upon submission and receipt. 



Awards:

Pre-College MN TRIO Program Scholarships

  • EOC, Talent Search, Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math & Science, and Veterans Upward Bound applicants: six(6) scholarships are available at $1,000.

College MN TRIO Program Scholarships

  • Student Support Services and McNair applicants: six (6) scholarships are available at $1,000.


Directors, nominators, and student applicants will be notified no later than Friday, May 10, 2019 of the status of the application. The MN TRIO Scholarships will be distributed via check in August/September 2019 contingent upon proof of registration at a post-secondary or graduate institution. Course schedules should be sent to aatwater@inverhills.edu. 


Nominations: 

Only TWO applications PER project/grant will be accepted. To be considered for the MN TRIO scholarship, the nominator MUST be a current member of EOA and MN TRIO at the time of scholarship deadline. We encourage you to verify your membership by logging in to www.mntrio.org or email the MN TRIO President-Elect at minnesota-president-elect@eoa.org, prior to submitting your nomination. 

 


Eligibility: 

The student applicant must meet the following criteria to apply:

  1. Current participant in a TRIO program.
  2. Received their high school diploma or will be receiving it in spring or summer of 2019.
  3. Student must be either:
  1. a high school senior planning to enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution in fall 2019 OR
  2. attending a two-year or four-year accredited post-secondary institution with plans to continue for fall 2019 OR
  3. a senior college student planning to enroll in an accredited graduate school institution for fall 2019

       4. Student must address how the TRIO program has influenced their involvement in   service to their         community, advocacy, or leadership.
       5. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or above on a 4.0 scale.
       6. Student must provide proof of enrollment for fall 2019 in order for funds to be distributed.


 

Application Materials: 

The applicant must submit the following (PDF) materials in order for their application to be considered complete: 

- Letter of Recommendation from TRIO Nominator (must be EOA and MN TRIO member at time of scholarship deadline.)
- Copy of unofficial academic transcript
- Complete
Signature Page/Consent Form
- One typed essay written by student addressing how the TRIO program has influenced their involvement in service to their community, advocacy, or leadership. (Essay must adhere to the following: limit of two pages, 12-point font, double-spaced with no smaller than .5 margins)


Incomplete applications will not be considered or scored. 
No additional materials beyond those requested will be considered.

IO's parent organization, the Educational Opportunity Association (EOA) offers scholarships to eligible TRIO and educational opportunity program participants. Scholarships are awarded throughout the region on a rotating basis.
